Winner of a 2022 National Terrazzo and Mosaic Association honor award, the Artisan lives up to its namesake by creating a space for the creative New Yorker through the use of carefully curated finishes including complimentary terrazzo installations in the commercial and residential lobbies. The commercial office lobby was designed as an "Art Box," employing minimalist forms with crisp edges crafted with the highest level of precision. The design for the Palladiana terrazzo floor with Suzuko marble was inspired by the historic mosaic tile floors of Venice Italy. The use of machine fabricated marble mosaic combined with a carefully executed epoxy terrazzo installation honors the Italian craftsmanship coupled with modern innovation. State of the art fabrication technology enabled a precision cut stone mosaic pattern mounted to a mesh backing to realize the designer's vision for a modern, minimalist aesthetic. The floor becomes a piece of art within itself, activating the space and complimenting the crisp forms of the illuminated glass light box at the core of the lobby entry. The finished floor is set level with the sidewalk and unencumbered by the storefront to obscure the physical boundaries between interior and exterior space. The residential lobby utilizes a more traditional single color epoxy terrazzo design with a dark undertone to emphasize the texture and visual impact of the other finishes, including the large illuminated living wall.
