Traditional coating recommendations for sodium hypochlorite containment areas have tended towards novolac epoxies or vinyl esters. These recommendations work well when the concentrations of NaCIO remain in the low commercial bleach range (6%), but higher concentrations require more chemically resistant coatings. Through CTS's experience in developing engineered coatings solutions, we worked with the architect to specify Sauereisen's No. 381 ConoFlex™ Urethane for a water treatment plant secondary containment area requiring resistance to 12.5% sodium hypochlorite. With superior chemical resistance up to 18% NaClO combined with excellent flexibility, the No. 381 is a go-to lining system for the protection of steel and concrete.
